I'll work at my own pace:Kajol

She is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood, but Kajol, who graces the screen after a gap of two years in her home production 'U, Me Aur Hum', says her priority is her family.

'I am not going to do four films a year. I will work, but at my own speed,' Kajol told on phone from Mumbai.

After marriage with Ajay Devgan in 1999, the actress cut down her film roles and was occasionally seen in hits like 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and 'Fanaa'.

For 'U, Me Aur Hum', she teams up with hubby. The film, which releases April 11, marks Ajay's directorial debut and he has written the script too.

Asked how different this film is from her other movies, the ebullient actress says: 'Well, I hope it is not so different that it becomes a bad film (laughs). I won't say it is different, but it is a very special film for me.'

'While working in the film I never felt constrained. In fact, it was the other way round. I felt very comfortable and at home.'

Her debut film, 'Bekhudi', in 1992 did fairly well, but it was 'Baazigar' with Shah Rukh Khan a year later that was her first blockbuster.

She later went on to deliver some of the biggest Bollywood hits like 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' opposite Shah Rukh.

Juggling multiple roles of a wife, mother, actress and judge of a TV show, Kajol is neck deep in work. 'Time management is a huge issue. I'm doing it with difficulty. Even a 15-minute delay makes a lot of difference. But I think it is not impossible to manage all this, you can do it.'

Commenting on the changes in the film industry in the last one decade, Kajol says this evolution is vital.

'It is very important that things should change. We should change. You will die if you don't change. In the last few years viewers have changed, their demands have changed, the business of cinema has changed, and with so many changes the parameters of Indian cinema has changed.'

On rumours that she has signed Karan Johar's next venture, Kajol said: 'I have not signed the film, but I am discussing it with him. When I sign, I will certainly let everybody know about it.'

She is having a ball as judge on Zee TV's new reality show 'Rock n Roll' along with her husband and mother, actress Tanuja. 'I'm really enjoying the reality show. There is so much positive energy,' she said.

She has a high opinion of her fans. 'I think we underestimate our fans. They are so level-headed and know where to draw the line. Only a very small percentage of fans go overboard.'

Karan smitten by Ekta Kapoor

By Subhash K Jha

Karan Johar has an extremely busy year ahead. Not only is he neck-deep researching for his next directorial venture he's also heavily into chatting up celebrities thanks to his reputation of a glorious gabber gotten from Koffee With Karan.

If you think that isn't enough on the plate then check this out. Karan is all set to act in Balajee Films C Kkompany, the same film that also features Ekta Kapoor.

Says Karan, "I won't want to divulge any details. Ekta will tell you what I've to do. She's a sweetheart. I can never say no to her."

This won't be Karan's first acting assignment. He started as a child actor in Anand Mahendroo's Doordarshan serial Indradhanush, then played Shah Rukh's nerdy friend in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.

More recently he had a cameo in Sujoy Ghosh's Home Delivery and a voice-on-the-telephone part in Nikhil Advani's Salaam-e-Ishq. However Karan refutes recent reports that he's acting in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion.

Adds Ekta, "C Kkompany will have Karan and also Mahesh Bhatt making appearances. I'm also there. The awards committees are going to have a tough time next year."

Saif hits the Bull's Eye!!!

Saif Ali Khan, the fourth Khan in the list has finally arrived!!

The macho man and Style Icon Saif has made it big in Bollywood with 'Race' and this probably has put the icing on the cake when it comes to the actor's long list of projects where he has time and again proved his versatility and that he is second to none!

Name it and the actor has done it!!

Whether it is the intense character in Ek Haseena Thi, the funny and adorable guy in Dil Chahta Hai, the angry man in Omkara, the confused character in Being Cyrus, the insecure lover in Parineeta, Saif has excelled in all the roles and this indeed speaks volumes for the actor's talent!

Noted trade analyst says, "The industry has always spoken of the three Khans when it spoke of star power — Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman. Then Hrithik Roshan made it to the premium list and also Akshay Kumar.

These five actors called the shots, commanded the best fee, while their films fetched incredible prices. Post RACE, Saif Ali Khan has joined the club".

Saif's talent has been accepted and acknowledged post his sparkling performances in earlier films, but Race has cemented his position as a star with tremendous following.

According to him, "Saif is the perfect combination of a stylish star and a versatile actor and has worked with the most diverse set of directors like Sriram Raghvan, to Kunal Kohli to Farhan Akhtar, Pradeep Sarkar to Homi Adajania to Abbas- Mustan".

Well, talking about the power-packed response that 'Race' has garnered, business reports have it that Race has captured a whopping Rs. 22 cr in just three days coming close to Om Shanti Om that had opened to that kind of massive collection. Further, Race is expected to garner 35-40 crore nett by this weekend.

Saif Ali Khan is now geared up for more action as the actor has a series of big banner films awaiting him.

The actor who has recently launched his production brand, Illumnati Films has been roped in by A-grade directors, Shriram Raghvan, Imtiaz Ali and Homi Adjania for their next ventures..

In fact Raghvan will soon embark on Agent Vinod that has Saif in the lead. Plus there's Karan Johar's untitled venture with Kareena.

Well, there's surely no stopping for Saif, as he aims to go higher and higher..

Pamela Anderson's marriage annulled

Leeches might have proven to be the beauty secret for Demi Moore, but they were certainly traumatising for Pamela Anderson, who was attacked by the blood-sucking organisms while swimming in a lake as a child.

Showing of her scars, the Baywatch hottie spoke up after Demi Moore revealed on The David Letterman Show that her latest beauty secret is letting leeches feast on her blood to detoxify her.

The busty bombshell was being interviewed on 'The Craig Ferguson Show' and made public her scars, which are on the same arm as her infamous barbed wire tattoo. The blonde actress cum model was swimming near her childhood home in British Columbia, Canada when she was bitten.

"I was attacked by leeches - look at my arm. It's been there since I was nine - its very traumatic. A bunch of them jumped on me in a lake while I was swimming under the water," The Sun quoted her, as telling.Meanwhile, former "Baywatch" star's latest marriage has been officially annulled, court records showed on Tuesday.

Anderson, 40, tied the knot with entrepreneur Rick Salomon in Las Vegas on October 6 but filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court less than three months later citing irreconcilable differences.A later petition from Anderson cited fraud as the reason for the marriage's breakdown. Salomon, best known for his involvement in socialite Paris Hilton's notorious home sex video, also alleged fraud in a response Friday.

Anderson's marriage to Salomon was her third. She was married for three years to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee between 1995 and 1998 and had a similarly short-lived three-month marriage to rapper Kid Rock in 2006.

Lewd Nana shocks Tanushree Dutta!

Tanushree Dutta and her parents are unlikely to forget March 26, 2007.

"We've been through hell, and back. My car is smashed to pieces due to mob fury. But what has happened to my dignity and selfrespect and my identity as a woman are irreparable," the shaken actress said on Thursday afternoon.

It all started when Tanushree was approached to do an item song for Rakesh Sarang's Horn Ok Please.

"I made it clear to the producer director and choreographer Ganesh Acharya that I'm not a run-of-the-mill item girl. I was very particular about my clothes and movements. We rehearsed for nearly a week for the song. And now they're saying I was uncooperative and not ready to rehearse."

What awaited Tanushree on the set was four days of horror. "From the start I wasn't comfortable with Nana Patekar's presence. In fact after the first day of shooting I told my mother something didn't feel right there.

Nana had just three words O yara re in the song. Still he insisted on being around throughout. That was fine. He's the film's hero and it's his prerogative. But then he started acting hugely aggressive.

Instead of the choreographer Nana started showing me the steps. I don't know since we has become an expert dancer."

Tanushree made her displeasure at the actor's intervention very clear. "A couple of times I pushed his hands away when he got too close for comfort. But it didn't seem to make a difference to him.

He continued to direct my steps roughly and aggressively. Things got really out of hand when Ganesh incorporated steps where Nana could get physically close to me."

That's when the actress chose to walk off the set and locked herself up in her van. "Not for three hours, as they reported on the tv channels. But for 90 minutes.

They called up Mr Pehlaj Nihalani to intervene and he told them to change the steps if being a girl they made me uncomfortable. I finally came out of my van…only to be told they won't change the steps. Why? Was it Valmiki's Ramayan that every word had to be faithful?

I think the poroducer, director and choreographer had decided to teach me a lesson. They threatened to call the media on the sets and proclaim I was uncooperative. I didn't know how serious they were. Nana apparently had left by then."

Tanushree decided to leave too. "But my car with my parents in it was surrounded by hordes of tv journalists. When they couldn't get a sound bite from me they pushed themselves into the front seat of my car.

When that didn't work they began banging on the windshield with their cameras. My parents and I were trapped inside my car.

Anything could've happened. We frantically tried to call the producer and director. They had both switched off their mobiles."

Finally someone had the presence of mind to inform the cops. That's when Tanushree and her parent's nightmare ended.

The Duttas have lodged an FIR against those who allegedly attacked them in her car at the Goregaon police station.

"What I want to know is, where was the security at Filmistan studio when I was attacked? Where was the producer and director?

They've wasted no time in replacing me with Rakhi Sawant for the song and labeling me uncooperative. But why did they realize how unprofessional I was on the fourth day?

Can they get others in the film industry to accuse me of undisciplined behaviour? Or did they think they could mess with me and manhandle me just because I'm a girl?"

Nana hits back at Tanushree!

Nana still not fully recovered from the foot injury that he obtained on the sets of Horn Ok Please, seems to have got himself into a very uncomfortable situation here."Bachchi kya bol rahi hai?" he asks in his characteristically convivial tone. "If she had any complaints she should've said so on the sets, no?"

Nana admits he was taking more than a passing interest in the item song. "I'm the leading man of the film. Mera haq banta hai. I think after more than 35 years in the industry I've earned the right to make suggestions. If that's seen as interference, so be it. I won't stop being passionate about my work just because it's seen as interference.

Why only this bachchi, during Welcome I was exchanging ideas with Anil Kapoor who's a lot more senior and nearer to my age.And as far as interfering with the choreography is concerned you know how good I'm with my dancing. With two left feet, one foot injured, I don't think I can be accused of giving dance tips,"he laughs heartily.

When gently told about Tanushree's touch-feely accusations Nana grows pensive….and pained. "It was a very crowded set where we were shooting. And the entrance door was very narrow. Maybe she got pushed around a bit. Hota hai. In all these years no one has ever accused me of unbecoming behaviour. I've worked with the best of them."

Taking a deep breath Nana says, "Mera kya hai, Subhash. I'm 58. I don't have time for all this silliness. I still have lots to do. The day I stop being passionate about acting I'll do something else."He says he had no idea of what happened on the sets on Thursday. "I came to the sets as usual, kept waiting for hours. When nothing happened, I left. As simple as that. I don't like to complicate my life unnecessarily."

As for his foot injury, 'It'll take time another couple of months to be fully repaired. But when my dancing isn't a problem to me—though it seems to be a problem for others—why should I have a problem walking?"

Aishwariya power packed

It's not easy matching swords with the gorgeous Hrithik Roshan but 'Jodha' or rather Aishwarya Rai, carried it off with sensuality, grace and a glint in her eyes. No wonder, Akbar was hooked. But while it may have looked like Aishwarya had been sword fighting all her life, she was rather terified during the shooting of the sequence.

But fear or not, she went ahead to create one of the most memorable scenes in the film, and we can't say that we are surprised. After all, the viewers have already witnessed Aishwarya donning her action sequences quite elegantly in Dhoom 2. In a black leather body-hugging suit, tight pony tail along with a blithe and an agile frame, Aishwarya was a lethal combination of 'Tomb Raider's' Lara Croft and Catherine Zeta Jones in 'Entrapment'!

Aishwarya first got familiar with a sword in the English movie 'The Last legion' that she starred in.

So while Aishwarya may play the picture perfect 'Bachchan bahu', she has also manifested her unsatibale thirst for action, and is all set to display her action skills one more time in her upcoming film 'Robot'.

Aishwarya may certainly look like the perfect picture of feminine grace when she first started out but soon after, the viewers realised that there was more to her than mere 'sugar and spice' - whether it was bungee jumping off mountains or smuggling away swords in 'Mission Impossible' style in 'Dhoom 2'.

While Hollywood boasts of some bankable action women, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan, the world's most beautiful woman does pack in a punch on the Bollywood frontier as well.

As Aishwarya quotes, "I love to do my own stunts."

Without any doubt, all cinegoers are armed and geared up to watch this action beauty display her skills one more time in the much awaited upcoming movie 'Robot'.

Darsheel demanding Rs. 75 lakhs for endorsements

After the success of Aamir Khan’s Taare Zameen Par, young bollywood actor Darsheel Safaray became famous among the masses. And he has also finally understood his worth and therefore asking for a bigger amount now for doing any film as well as any endorsements.

Recently, Darsheel was approached for an endorsement offer from a leading computer brand. But the amount asked from the actor’s side stunned everyone. The amount asked by actor was around Rs. 75 Lakhs.

Darsheel got fame after the success of Taare Zameen Par in which his acting was much appreciated by audience rather than Aamir Khan. Infact it was considered that darsheel was the real hero of the film and Aamir did the second lead.

Darsheel is making advertisers run away from the amount he is qouting to each company. No need to say that stardum is now making an impact on this child.

Shilpa doing item number in Karan’s next

Hot bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty will be seen doing item number in the Karan Johar’s forthecoming movie Dostana. And according to sources, the item number will be really too hot to handle for people.

Shilpa was last seen in two hit movies named Apne and Life In A Metro. The actress who got overnight fame and success after her glorious win in the reality show Big Brother, will now show her killing ‘adayein’ in this hot item number.

Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra are doing the lead roles in this film. And Shilpa will be seen dancing with Abhishek in the item song. The story of the movie is about two very good friends with lots of twist and turn in it.

Earlier, Priyanka was expected to do a bikini sequence in the movie but in last she refused to do so. May be Karan is now trying to fill that hot element in the film in the form of Shilpa’s item number. Wish you best of luck Karan!!!!

: Salman Khan will be seen hosting a TV show

After, Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan another bollywood actor is planning to make an appearance on small screen by hosting a television show. It’s none other than our Sallu miyaan who will be seen hosting a TV show.

Salman Khan is all set to host a TV show for Sony Entertainment. And for doing this job, he will get a huge amount of Rs. 89 crores from the channel. Sallu is expected to host this television show for atleast 100 episodes.

The show is expected to go on air just at the same time when Shahrukh Khan’s Kya Aap Paanchi Paas Se Tez Ho will be aired on Star Plus. Salman Khan is supposed to start shooting for the show from next month.

This show is supposed to be made in competition of King Khan’s game show. However, Zee TV is also planning to take Amitabh Bachchan for a brand new show of the channel. This competition is going bigger and bigger from the entry of Salman.

Two Superstars Dance to One Song!

SRK and Hrithik's item numbers for title song of Krazzy 4!!!

After wowing audiences with superstar Shah Rukh Khan's item song for Krazzy 4, Rakesh Roshan and Director Jaideep Sen are all set with one more ace up their sleeve- an item song by dance king Hrithik Roshan!!

What's more the film is set to create a record of sorts with the two stars have their item numbers choreographed to the tunes of one song- the title song "BreakFree" of Krazzy 4!!

The promos of the stunningly choreographed Hrithik song will start airing this week and we hear have some the best dance moves ever!!

Says Jaideep Sen, "It was a delight to direct SRK and I must say the song is getting popular day by day. Hrithik's song is on the same tune but there is a slight change in lyrics. He has danced brilliantly as usual and it shows!!…I am very lucky that two mega stars have danced to my title song for my debut film…. Also Rakhi Sawant's song is for the masses as she has a certain amount of class and is famous through her item songs. It was a great working experience with her as well!"

Krazzy 4 is a light-hearted comedy focusing on four 'Krazzy' guys - Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav, Irrfan Khan and Suresh Menon along with Juhi Chawla. Releasing on April 11, 2008, it is directed by debutant Jaideep Sen and produced by Rakesh Roshan under his banner FilmKraft.

Kareena or Katrina: Who makes more?

Just when you think stars’ pay cheques are running out of space in the Amount section, they bump up their fees some more! Kareena Kapoor is the latest star to raise her rates. After winning the Best Actress award for Jab We Met, she had quoted Rs 3.5 crore. Now, it’s a whopping 6 crore.

Ashtavinayak’s producers reeled upon hearing her quote, but tried negotiating a 5-crore deal nevertheless. Bebo refused to budge. Apparently, her astronomical fee has a little something to do with Katrina Kaif, who is taking home 1.5 crore for just an item number in Ashtavinayak’s Blue. So, if Kat can make money like that for a song sequence, why can’t the lead actress make proportionately more? That’s Kareena’s logic, and it sure looks bullet-proof.

We didn't pay Sallu 89 crores

Another source, however, indicated there is a possibility that Synergy Adlabs might be producing the show.

Siddhartha Basu, head of Synergy Adlabs, told: 'Till the shows are officially announced, we are not in a position to confirm what we are producing, for whom and with whom.'

'Shah Rukh is way above me'

Bollywood megastar of the eightees Mithun Chakraborty has bought Indian Cricket League's (ICL) Kolkata Tigers.

Talking to press, Mithun said, ''Yes, I have bought the Kolkata Tigers of the ICL. Tomorrow everything will be formally announced after completing some legal formalities.''

Asked why he took a plunge, the 'veteran actor said, ''I have always been a sports lover and had organised the Raj Kapoor Trophy in Chembur, Mumbai, for several years where big stars played. But it was not just passion that made me buy the team; there is business in it also.''

''I am an entertainer and Twenty20 is a fantastic form of entertainment. There is craze and good business in it. So I decided to try my luck,'' he added.

Asked how much he had spent on the team, he said, ''At present I cannot reveal the figure, but it certainly is a triple digit in crores.''

On whether he had really asked to rechristen the side as Bengal Tigers, he said, ''I have strongly recommended it. Kolkata is the capital of Bengal, but my side will represent all the people of the state. I have fans in every corner of the state and can't deny them.''

On what made him go for a team in ICL and not IPL, Mithun replied, ''The realisation that I could even own a team and make it into a profitable business venture dawned late on me.''

So will it be Mithun-Shah rukh competition to win the hearts of Bengal, he said, ''There is no question of competing with Shah Rukh.

He is one of the finest gentlemen I have come across and he gives a lot of respect to his co-stars. Besides, you can't compare our popularity. He is way above me.''

On whether his Bengal Tigers would imbibe his fighting mentality, pat came the karate king's reply, ''Undoubtedly so. Life has never been a bed of roses for me.''

'Himesh is a perfect item boy'

Satish Kaushik who's currently confined to bed after a surgery plans to ask his new blue-eyed hero Himesh Reshammiya to compose a promotional song for Kaushik's teen romance Tere Sang.

"Tere Sang needs a promotional prop. And who better able to provide it than Himesh?

Coincidentally both me and my Tere Sang hero Ruslaan Mumtaz are currently confined to bed. He's so accident prone. While we were shooting Tere Sang he fell off the bicycle and had a serious injury.

Now he has torn a ligament in his knee while I am recovering from a minor surgery. This is a good time for me to work on the music of our film."

Satish Kaushik who has just returned from 35 days of shooting with Himesh Reshammiya and Urmila Matondkar for Karzzzz in South Africa can't stop praising his two stars.

"They're such professionals and so clued in to the technicalities of cinema. I was amazed by Himesh's ability to deliver long dialogues with the right pauses for breath and punctutation.

This rhythm in the speech patterns is generally lacking in our film actors. The last time I saw an actor convey the same rhythm in speech was that other singer-actor Kishore Kumar."

As for Urmila, "The last time I worked with her was when I was assisting Shekhar Kapoor for Masoom. She was just a child then.

In-between we were supposed to do a full-on masala film called Bus Conductor. But she opted out. Now for Karzzz she's so passionately involved."

Satish now gets ready to shoot what he calls an ultra-romantic song with Urmila and Himesh titled 'Tandoori Nights.'

"It's sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Himesh. I'll shoot it out as soon as I'm out of bed," declares Satish. "It'll take me some time to recover. And then I go straight into a long schedule of Karzzz in Mumbai. And then we're done."

Simi Garewal: "I've two beautiful little dogs, both females, named Diva and Aria. And no! I wouldn't leave anything in my will for them. They can't sign cheques yet. And I'm not insane. In my will I'd make sure that they are well taken care of."

Gul Panag: "I've a 4-year old male beagle called Milo. I love him very much and take him everywhere I go, whether it's Chandigarh or visiting my parents in Kashmir. But will him everything? Noooo! Sorry.

Sophie Choudhary: "Growing up in London I always had dogs. One of them was christened Benjy Choudhary. My mom called him beta. Unfortunately he died soon after we moved to India. But if he hadn't I'd not leave my estate to him. I'd make sure I leave him in a good home."

Lindsay Lohan blasts Calum Best for sex video

American actress Lindsay Lohan has blasted her ex-lover Calum Best for releasing a sex video of theirs onto the web.

The clip, which turned out to be quite blurry, had been filmed when the two of them had been seeing one another last year. It is believed that Calum's phone was used for the filming, and the clip then forwarded to one of his friends.

After viewing the porn-style photo on the Internet, Lindsay, according to her pals, made a number of abusive phone calls to George Best's lothario son.

"I can't believe you would ever f***ing do this to me, I should have listened to everyone," the Sun quoted a source, who overheard the rant, as saying.

"I should never have f***ing trusted you," the source said Lindsay screamed.

Lindsay, who was screaming on the phone for a very long time, had to leave another voicemail to satisfy her and continue her abusive outburst.

"It's everywhere now, all over the net, everyone's seen it, how f***ing could you?" the source revealed Lindsay as having questioned Best.

Mallika is nothing like hot girl

Rahul Bose who has just completed a comedy called—hold your breath—Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam with Mallika Sherawat is puzzled by rumours that the director Sanjay Chhel shot the Lata Mangeshkar-Madhubala classic Pyar kiya to darna kya from Mughal-e-Azam with Mallika Sherawat.

"That's completely wrong," says Rahul "It's not the Naushad-Lata Mangeshkar composition at all. It's a totally fresh composition by Anu Malik.

I mean, how much further can Mallika and me move away from Madhubala and Dilip Kumar? I don't think Anu Malik has sought any inspiration from the earlier film amd song at all. "

Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam is about a theatre group that performs various plays. One of them happens to be be the love story of Salim and Anatkali.

"Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam is a spoofy and black comedy. If we look for a gemre it'd have to be the Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron kind of cinema. "

This is Rahul's second film with Mallika. And he enjoyed her company thoroughly.

"She's just not the person she's made out to be. I'm happy that both the film she has done with me Pyar Ke Side Effects and Mughal-e-Azam take Mallika very far away from her image. It's also my first full-on masala film and I had a blast. "

Ash-Abhi at the romantic best

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has proved to all that she is the most elegant princess in tinsel town with her gorgeous look in Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar.

After playing Jodhaa, now Ash is all set to play another classic role of Mumtaz Mahal opposite Ben Kingsley in the historical epic on the Taj Mahal.

But at the moment, all eyes are on the on and off screen thunderous chemistry of Ash-Abhishek in Maniratnam's next film, which is reported to be a very intense love story.

As we wait to see the couple take off from where they left in Guru, the year 2008 really promises to be a good year with many romantic flavors to come! The other love story being talked of is the Raj Kumar Santoshi, Ranbir-Katrina starrer.

Romance is surely in the air, so time to get cozy, folks!! - Subhash K Jha

Saif is 24-hour entertainment

Contrary to rumours Akshaye Khanna isn't unhappy with his role nor the promos in Abbas-Mustan's Race.

"Where do these things start from?" Akshaye laughs heartily. "I've been in Bangkok for almost a month now shooting for my friend Anil Kapoor's Shortcut.

We're going to be in Bangkok until 20 April. This is the last schedule. We'll finish the film and return. So where was the time to come home for Race?

I really enjoy working with Saif. He's 24-hour entertainment. A joke-a-minute pal. And after Dil Chahta Hai he's really blossoming me as an actor."

But isn't Saif moody like Akshaye? "I've never seen Saif's moody side. Am I moody? Honestly it was a reputation well-earned at the beginning of my career. But now no longer applicable.

Everyone is entitled to their highs and lows. I'm not temperamental. I get annoyed easily. But I don't get angry easily."

And right now Akshaye sitting in Bangkok is far from angry. "Race has had a smash-hit opening. It's got a bigger opening than Anil Kapoor's other release Welcome. Mine is a very effective role.

My character is the karta-dharta (the mover-shaker) of the script. Abbas-Mustan had earlier cast me as negative character in Humraaz. I enjoy being wicked.

Such roles are fun to play. And fun to watch. When I had heard the script of Humraaz I told Abbas-Mustan, 'Boss I'm the hero, though conventionally I'm the villain but my character is the most entertaining.' Sure enough people came out of Humraaz wishing me not to die."

Akshaye goes into a wicked rewind. " If you look at the history of great screen villains, for example Anthony Hopkins in The Silence Of The Lambs audiences don't want them to die in the film.

So many people have told me they didn't want me to die in Race. That's a very positive sign about my negative roles."

Akshaye can't stop glowing over the way Race has been received. "Abbas-Mustan really know how to use me well…so for that matter does Anil Kapoor.

I enjoy shooting Shortcut and Gandhi My Father for Anil as much as the films of Abbas-Mustan. I wouldn't give up either. There's a greater likelihood of people watching Race than Gandhi My Father.

But no one can tell what would work, what wouldn't. I'm really proud of that film. No other film has given me what Gandhi My Father has. And it will continue to make me proud."

Emran Hashmi forced to Kiss!

If Emran had his way Jannat would remain smooch-free.

"But then my director Kunal Singh got greedy," he says with a twinkle in his eyes. "He first persuaded me to do one kiss, then another."

Emran who turned 29 on March 24 was quite sick and tired of kissing…and cutting cakes.

"I had already cut four cakes post-midnight, the first one of course with my wife" he rattles off dutifully.

"Then my friends had dropped in and we had a private get-together. The next morning I was on the sets and doing it all over again. I can't say I don't enjoy all the attention on my birthday.

But if I really had one wish granted on my birthday it would have to be…no shooting! Sadly that's what I'm doing today," Emran cribbed from the sets of his new film Jannat.

"The film over. Just needed some patchwork. I enjoy working. But not at a time when I'm wanted by family and friends."

Jannat is the film about match-fixing where Emran plays a bookie. "Though the film is inspired by real -life incidents in the cricketing world we've covered our bases well.

We don't want real-life figures from cricket to identify themselves in the film and create trouble in Jannat. So ironically in a film based on true-life incidents we've consciously steered away from getting too close to reality for comfort."

Though real-life cricketers play the field in Jannat, they aren't modelled on any real cricketers.

Does Emran get on the field at all? "Actually I don't like cricket at all. Don't play it and hardly ever watch it. Fortunately I play a bookie. So I don't have to play in Jannat," he mumbles sheepishly like a brat boy who hasn't done his homework.

Emran is all praise for his costar Sonal Chauhan. "She's totally new. The 14th girl to be launched with me. I don't know how many ladies Mr Rishi Kapoor launched in his heydays. But I'm getting there."

Emran shivers when he remembers the uncanny resemblance between Bob Woolmer and the actor who plays him in Jannat.

"When I saw the actor Richard Burton I froze. He looks so much like Bob. And on top of that they turned out to be close friends. Not me,I'd say Richard is the perfectly cast actor in Jannat."

Lara Dutta ditches Bachchans

Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, who was all set to accompany Bachchans on their much talked-about world tour 'Unforgettable Show', has cancelled her plans because of knee injury.

'I have injured my knee and have been asked by the doctors not to strain it further. Since I am also doing a big action film this year, going on the tour for three months will only aggravate my injury.

So, unfortunately and regretfully I have had to withdraw from the 'Unforgettable Tour',' she said in a press release.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan will start touring the world next month along with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya. Bipasha Basu and Riteish Deshmukh are also expected to accompany them.
